Music Monday – The Heavy
I heard this on a car advert, and immediately looked them up. I love their neo-soul sound.
Music Monday – The Dead Milkmen
I had the rare opportunity to catch their one-off show in Boston a few nights back. It was a great time. The people were cool, the band sounded great, and for a short while everything was okay in the world.
Music Monday – K&D Sessions
This is an album worth picking up. Great for long drives or chill, rainy evenings at home. Here’s a favourite of mine.
Music Monday – Team Sleep
I got into the Deftones with their White Pony release. It came out at a rather strange time in my life and I took an immediate liking to it. When my friend “the man-phibian” introduced me to Team Sleep, I found it amplified everything I liked about the Deftones and cleaved away what I could do without. Deftones Front man Chino Moreno takes more liberty with Team Sleep than with his main project, which makes it worth checking out.
Musik Montag – Wolfsheim
Music Monday – The Sugarcubes
I’m often the last one to be let in on secrets. Usually, it’s sensitive information about the hot girl in the cafe, namely that she digs me. I’m always last to know. Blast.
The same holds for music. I find a band and fall in love with them, only to learn their last release was pressed before the Wall came down.
I’m about 20 years too late with this track as well. You might recognize the singer. I’m inclined to say I like her work with The Sugarcubes more than her solo work, with a few exceptions.
Music Monday – Bloodhound Gang
It’s been a good week, and I’m in a fairly good mood. So, now for something completely different… from my usual tastes, that is.
Gear Review – G-Shock GW7900B-1
A while back, I made a post about this G-Shock that caught my eye. This is somewhat unsual for me; as of late mechanical watches have taken most of my horological interests. Despite this I took a chance and bought my first quartz watch in five years, and my first ever G-Shock.
It’s bigger than it appears in the advert, but still sits comfortably on my 6.5inch wrists. The plethora of functions such as moon phase and tide chart were a little confusing at first, but after a short while are easy to operate. Accuracy is dead on, thanks to an atomic clock radio sync function. The solar power cell means no battery replacement for at least 10 years, or until it can no longer hold a charge.
Pound for pound, it’s a killer watch. If you can find one, buy it. I had to wait several months before I could find an on-line retailer that stocked them. Even Casio’s site said they were on back order!
